INTRODUCTION AND HISTORY

Faculty of Architecture is composed of the departments of Architecture, Interior Architecture, Landscape Architecture, City and Regional Planning and Industrial Design within the framework of "Architecture, Planning and Design Fundamental Area" determined by Akdeniz University Faculty of Architecture Higher Education Board.

Undergraduate education is still continuing in the Architecture, Interior Architecture, Landscape Architecture, City and Regional Planning Departments of our faculty. The Industrial Design Department will also become operational when the necessary academic, administrative and physical infrastructure is provided.

Within the scope of postgraduate education, which is affiliated to the Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences, our university continues its activities in Architecture, Landscape Architecture and City and Regional Planning Master's and Doctorate programs with Thesis and Interior Architecture Master's Programs with Thesis. In addition, there is a Non-Thesis Master's Program in Architecture, Planning and Design, open to the application of undergraduate graduates within the framework of the Basic Field of Architecture, Planning and Design.

The undergraduate program of the Landscape Architecture Department of our faculty started its activities in 1995 within the Faculty of Agriculture, the undergraduate program of the Department of Interior Architecture in 2000, the undergraduate program of the Department of Architecture began its activities in 2011 under the Faculty of Fine Arts, and the undergraduate program of the Department of City and Regional Planning in 2017 within the Faculty of Architecture.

Establishment of the Faculty of Architecture at our university with the aim of providing a healthier education and training in the departments of Architecture, Interior Architecture and Landscape Architecture, which are in the Basic Field of Architecture, Design, Planning, and meeting the needs of academic staff, administrative personnel, technical equipment and spatial infrastructure more quickly. It was accepted by our University Senate in 2015. In the same year, the Faculty of Architecture was established at Akdeniz University in line with this decision, which was approved by the Council of Higher Education and the Council of Ministers. Thus, the Department of Architecture and Interior Architecture, which was operating under the Faculty of Fine Arts, and the Department of Landscape Architecture, which was operating under the Faculty of Agriculture, were connected to the Faculty of Architecture, and also the Department of City and Regional Planning and Industrial Design, which were not previously available at our University, were established under the same Faculty. has taken place.
